THE LATEST THOUGHTS FROM THE FOUNDER

A SNEAK PEEK…
“Think of it like locking doors you didn’t even know were open.”
Behind the scenes, there’s more going on than most people realize, securing and properly managing your M365 tenant (where all your Microsoft data is stored).
When you set up Microsoft 365, what you’re really creating is your company’s “home base” in the cloud. Everything lives there. Your email, your files, your users, your access, your security settings, your licenses. It’s all inside that environment, often called your tenant.
So when someone asks if we “manage” it, the simple answer is yes. But that word can mean a lot of different things depending on who you ask.
Managing it is the easy part. Keeping it safe, organized, and running the way your business actually needs it to run… that’s where most companies get tripped up.
Take email, for example. It’s still the number one way problems get into a business. Phishing, fake invoices, spoofed emails that look like they came from your own team. All of that happens through email.
So we don’t just make sure your email works. We’re constantly tightening things up in the background. Think of it like locking doors you didn’t even know were open. That includes things like turning on extra verification steps, called multi-factor authentication, which alone can stop the vast majority of account break-ins when it’s set up properly.
We also keep an eye on how your system is configured. Over time, things drift. New users get added, permissions change, software gets updated. If no one is watching that closely, small issues can quietly turn into bigger risks.
Then there’s the licensing side, which is a little less exciting but just as important. Microsoft gives you dozens of options, and it’s surprisingly easy to overbuy or buy the wrong thing entirely. We often find companies paying for features they don’t use, or missing ones they actually need. Part of our job is keeping that right-sized so you’re not wasting money.
Another piece people don’t always think about is how everything connects. Your email isn’t just email anymore. It ties into your files, your phones, your line-of-business software, even how your team collaborates. Making sure those pieces work together smoothly can save a lot of daily frustration.
And then there’s the simple, practical stuff. Shared mailboxes that actually go to the right people. Access set up so employees can do their jobs without hitting roadblocks. Systems that feel like they were set up for your business, not just turned on.
Now, to be fair, not every company needs someone managing all of this at a high level. If you have internal people who truly understand it and have the time to stay on top of it, you might be fine. But what I see most often is that it becomes “something we’ll deal with later,” until something forces the issue.
So when you hear us say we manage your Microsoft 365, what we really mean is we’re keeping an eye on the whole picture. Not just making sure it works today, but making sure it’s secure, cost-effective, and set up in a way that actually supports how your business runs.
If you’re thinking about your own setup, a simple question to ask is this:
If something went wrong with your email tomorrow, who would know what to look for, what to fix, and how to prevent it from happening again?
That’s how I see it, anyway, and I’d enjoy hearing how you see it. None of this is a sales pitch. It’s just the kind of thing I’d talk through with you if we were sitting across the table. If it raised a question, or you think I have it wrong, I want to hear about it.
My door is always open. Whether you want to talk this through or just say hello, you can reach me anytime.
